Hurricane Sandy Update

Dear Neighbor,   With Hurricane Sandy projected to make its way towards New York late this weekend, I hope you are taking this time to prepare yourself and your loved ones.  The New York City Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is monitoring this storm very carefully and has a wealth of information on its   website .   It's never too soon to start planning ahead and preparing .     You should take this time to revisit the City's  Hurricane Evacuation Zone Finder .  You can also call 311 to determine if you live in a hurricane evacuation zone.  If you live in Zone A please take note of th e nearest evacuation center to you.   Con Edison is also continuing to provide updates through the media as the storm moves closer.  In addition, important information will also be posted on the  company's web site .  For instructions on how to report an outage, click here:  http://bcove.me/6sx1yox5 .   This would also be a good time to check in with family and friends in the event the weather gets bad. The   American Red Cross in Greater New York has a helpful hurricane preparedness checklist available in   English ,   Spanish , and   Chinese .     As a precaution, all New York City Parks will close early tomorrow and while the Mayor has not made a decision about whether school will be in session on Monday, students and parents should expect it to.   Lastly I want to encourage you to prepare a "Go Bag". This is a bag you can take with you if something were to happen and you had to leave at a moment's notice. You should stock your "Go Bag" with water, a first-aid kit, a flashlight, any important medications that you take, essential documents, such as passports or other forms of ID, and an extra set of house or car keys.
